Career Fair
This year's Career Fair will occur September 26, 2008 from 10am-3pm at the Georgetown University Conference Center, Leavey Center.
Every year, we bring employers from around the country to recruit Georgetown students for full-time and internship opportunities in a variety of industries.
Registration will begin September 5. To register go to
Hoya Career Connection and select
Events,
Annual Georgetown Fall Career Fair, and the yellow
Go button. You do not have to upload a résumé to RSVP for the Fair.
All Georgetown students and alumni are invited to attend. Students and alums from the Law Center, MBA, Medical Center, Graduate Program in Public Policy and Graduate School of Foreign Service (as well as some other programs) can quickly register on-site for the fair, as you will not be able to pre-register.

Tips for attending career fair:
- Take time to research the organization and the opportunities employers will be recruiting. This information is available by clicking on the employer's name in the list of registered employers (see above.) You can also check out the company’s website and check for open positions.
- Write a professional, one-page résumé and bring copies on high quality, resume paper. If you are interested in several career fields, have different versions of your résumé, one for each field. New rules defining what constitutes a job applicant have limited the number of employers who will accept paper resumes at career fairs. Don’t be disappointed or discouraged if an employer will not accept a paper copy of your resume and refers you instead to its website because there may be a legal reason they choose not to accept paper resumes. However, continue to have paper resumes available for employers who will accept them.
- Business attire is appropriate. Wear a suit if you have one. Otherwise dark pants and a button down shirt and tie for men, and dress pants or a conservative skirt (knee-length) with a blouse or nice sweater for women. Women, wear small jewelry and go easy on the perfume; men, remember to shave. Also, make sure your shoes are business appropriate--choose heels two inches or lower with a closed or modest cut for women and men stay away from athletic shoes. Make sure your shoes are well polished.
