Participate in the Mock Interview program.
Take a copy of our handout, "Writing Your Resume," which includes examples and information on writing resumes and cover letters.
Include activities that are relevant or applicable to the career field in which you are interested.
If possible, study abroad.
Stop by the Office of International Programs (Car Barn, Suite 210) to research study abroad programs and their application requirements. Look for programs that offer courses that will contribute towards your major and that will further your academic goals.
Prepare for graduate/ professional school exams.

Prepare and register online for the GRE, MCAT, or LSAT.
Buy a test review book and take the practice exams. Practice, practice, practice. If necessary, take a test prep course.
Research your top career choices and search for opportunities to gain career-related experience.
Take a copy of "The Internship Search: Covering Your Bases," an informational packet that can be found in the Career Education Center.
Store your resume on Hoya Career Connection so you can easily send it to employers who post internships on the site.
Attend our workshops on such topics as interviewing skills, grad school, resumes, cover letters, and job search strategies. The full schedule can be found on our calendar.
Make an appointment with an employment advisor for guidance on how to conduct a job or internship search in a specific career field.
Network!
Talk with your faculty adviser or professors about your career opportunities and networking contacts. If you make contact with a person about whose job you would like to know more, set up an informational interview with him or her.
Go to the Career Fair and the Government & Nonprofit Career EXPO with your resume to practice meeting and conversing with employers and to search for internship opportunities.
Visit the Alumni Career Network to get in touch with Georgetown alumni. Schedule informational interviews with alumni in a career field of interest to you to discuss job and internship possibilities in that particular field.
Keep a log to organize your networking contacts and meeting dates and record what you discussed with each person. This information could prove to be useful when you start applying for jobs. Always remember to follow up meetings and interviews with thank you notes, via e-mail or mail.
